The Order - Volume 2: California Dreaming (v. 2)

The Order - Volume 2: California Dreaming - Matt Fraction, Barry Kitson The ending is killer, but I am damn tired of Marvel books with women whose powers are so strong they can end the world, not to mention drive themselves insane, and have to be killed for the greater good.

(Not that women's power = dangerous and insane is a trope limited to Marvel. But that doesn't make it better.)

Of course, this woman, like so many others in such storylines, doesn't even try to seize power for herself; with all her power, she's the tool of an ambitious man.

Are there any male characters for whom power comes as a violation? Because I can't think of any offhand. I don't think the horror trope of turning into a monster is quite the same thing.
